StudyDek ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website studydek.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and display name.
- OAuth Data: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
- User Content: Flashcard decks you create, including card content and associated metadata.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the Service, including pages visited, features used, and study progress.
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
- Log Data: IP address, access times, and referring URLs.
Note: Our Practice section (studydek.com/practice) is designed for younger learners and does not use Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager. Only privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics (Vercel Analytics) may be used in this section. See "Children's Privacy" below for more details.

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

- Analyze site usage (Google Analytics — excluding the Practice section)

Advertising
Current Status: StudyDek does not currently display advertisements.
Practice Section: The Practice section (studydek.com/practice) is designed for children and will not display personalized advertisements. If we introduce advertising to the Practice section in the future, we will either (a) implement age verification and obtain verifiable parental consent as required by COPPA, or (b) display only contextual, non-personalized advertisements that do not involve tracking or profiling.
Other Sections: If we introduce advertising to other sections of the Service in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and provide notice to users.
Third-Party Services
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit the site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to coming to our site.
Important: Google Analytics is not used on our Practice section (studydek.com/practice) to protect the privacy of younger users.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Vercel Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal information. This service may be used across all sections of the site, including Practice.
Supabase
We use Supabase to store your account information and user content. Supabase's privacy practices are described in their Privacy Policy.
Vercel Hosting
Our Service is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect technical information about your visits. See Vercel's Privacy Policy for more information.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
Deletion Requests: We will respond to deletion requests within 30 days. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal information from our active databases. Some information may be retained in backups for a limited period or as required by law.
Guest Users: If you use the Service without an account, your study progress is stored only in your browser's local storage and is not transmitted to our servers.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
Children's Privacy
Our Commitment
StudyDek provides educational content for learners of all ages, including children under 13. We are committed to protecting children's privacy and complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Practice Section — Special Protections for Young Learners
Our Practice section (studydek.com/practice) is specifically designed for younger learners, including children under 13. To protect their privacy:
- No behavioral tracking: We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or similar tracking technologies in the Practice section.
- No personalized advertising: The Practice section does not and will not display personalized advertisements.
- No account required: Children can use the Practice section without creating an account. Study progress is stored locally in the browser and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Cookieless analytics only: We may use Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies or collect personal information, to understand general usage patterns.
Account Creation
When users create accounts, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@studydek.com. We will promptly delete such information.
Parental Rights
Parents and guardians have the right to:
- Review the personal information we have collected from their child
- Request deletion of their child's personal information
- Refuse to permit further collection or use of their child's information

Your Rights
